C-SPAN rocks...
Mary Landrieu is kicking Orrin Hatch's ass on the floor of the Senate.
|
Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., speaks in the Senate chamber Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, on Capitol Hill in Washington in this image from video taken during the 29th hour of a marathon session organized by Republicans to protest Democratic filibusters. Republicans insisted there was no precedent for refusing to allow votes on the president's judicial choices. Landrieu displays a Judicial Nomination Scorecard that she said gives figures indicating that judicial nominees brought before the Senate by the Bush administration have only been blocked by Democrats two percent of the time. Good news...for now...
Yahoo! News - Ten Commandments Judge Stripped of Office
|
The Alabama chief justice whose refusal to obey a U.S. order to move a Ten Commandments monument fueled a national debate over the place of God in public life was stripped of his office by a state judicial panel on Thursday.I'm afraid this is the making of a political martyr. Could a run for the Alabama governor's office be far behind?
"Finding no other viable alternatives, this court hereby finds that Roy S. Moore be removed from his position as chief justice of Alabama," said a statement read by a member of the nine-member judicial panel.

It unnerves me too...
Yahoo! News - Book Paints Gloomy Picture of Ventura:
|
In "Governor Ventura 'The Body' Exposed. The Man. The Mansion. The Meltdown," Creed says Ventura seldom acknowledged those who labored on his behalf and often shunned visitors. He slept on a "1970s-throwback waterbed," and sometimes left his pink feather boa on the bed, a sight Creed said "still unnerves me for reasons I can't really put my finger on."See what you get when you vote third party? It's going to take years for Minnesota to recover from Ventura's one term in office. I hope the electorate learned its lesson.
Let me make you a list...
Hey Nicholas Kristoff of the NY Times, it's not just Bush that we liberals hate. Please add Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Rove, Scalia, DeLay, Frist, Lott, and any other right wing wacko regime member you can think of to the list.
Anyone but Bush in '04.

Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers spent all day today keeping it real, the 2,548th straight day he has done so. The mark is thought to be a record for keeping it real for consecutive days by an athlete.
...
Iverson’s string of keeping it real dates back to November of 1996, when he ended a streak of 1,194 days of keeping it real at that time by watching an episode of “7th Heaven.” His previous instance of not keeping it real came in the summer of 1993 after he listened to, and enjoyed, a Bon Jovi song.

Convervatives abhor the creation of Islamic theocracies but demand the establishment of a Christian theocracy here at home. I sure love hypocrisy.

The U.S. Constitution gives us legal means to put a stop to judicial tyranny. These must be enforced by citizen action.
First, we must urge Congress to use its Article III authority to take away jurisdiction for certain issues from the Supreme Court. Specifically, Congress must pass laws that order the court to keep hands off the Pledge of Allegiance, the posting of the Ten Commandments on public property, and the voluntary assembly of public school students to pray and worship God in their schools.
Second, we should urge Congress to pass a law that would bring the Alabama Ten Commandments monument to Washington and place it in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol.
Third, the House of Representatives should impeach any federal judge who violates his oath of office to uphold the Constitution. We need specifically to urge the impeachment of Judge Myron Thompson.

Do the right thing...
Dear Bruce Van De Velde, Iowa State University Athletic Director,
41-20 loss to Iowa
24-16 loss to Northern Illinois
53-7 loss to Oklahoma
52-21 loss to Texas
28-0 loss to Nebraska
45-0 loss to Kansas State
I supported you when you fired Larry Eustacy. You took a lot of heat for that decision, but you did what was right for the University, the students, the athletes and the Cyclone nation. It is time for you to make the difficult choice. Please fire Dan McCarney. I know the man can recruit, but he simply cannot coach.
Your friend,
Clonecone
